American Transition Train Set
Other
There are several additional features under consideration for inclusion in the Set.
- A US-set opening screen. This would replace the default canned game that runs behind the startup menu, with a new one featuring the US set. It wouldn't affect the game, but would be an interesting novelty. Lilman424 has done some work with these.
- Realism Guide. There are so many trains in the set, that it would add a new dimension of complexity to use them each in the environments and services they were really used for. Raichase likes to work on these.
- Maps. It would be nice to have some American game maps to go with the game. You couldn't have the whole US, of course, but you could use certain areas, such as Southern California, the Northeast Corridor, or the Great Lakes region. Maybe Jim Powers can contribute a Northeast Corridor megapolis game?
- Sounds. It is thought to be possible to replace the sounds in TTD, or even to make individual sounds for each of the trains. Many of them have sound recordings from real life available on the Web.
- Road set. There have been some experiments with re-striping the roads to conform to American practice. This hasn't worked too well, as the roads are very small and don't fit the details, but perhaps a solution will be found.
- Road vehicles. uzurpator suggested adding some American trucks, particularly the early ones. If they don't wind up in George's comprehensive vehicle set, maybe they'll go in the US set itself.
- Other ideas?
